Vineyards
High quality grape varieties
LVK–Vinprom AD is located in the Danube Plain, which has a typical hilly landscape. The vineyards in the region were planted on grey forest soils with sandy-clay structure, suitable for the cultivation and development of high-quality grape varieties, such as Traminer, Chardonnay, Muskat Otonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Colombard, Verdejo, Petit Manseng, Pinot Bianco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Côt Malbec, Pinot Gris, Carménère, etc.
The favourable combination of rainfall and sunshine during the growing period and the mean elevation of 220–250 m are beneficial and the grape harvest achieves optimal technological ripeness from mid-September by the end of October.
In 2005–2010, with the support of European programmes, providing funding for the agriculture, LVK–Vinprom AD planted 700 hca new vineyards in the Targovishte region. Most of the estates are in the land of the villages Vradun, Dalgach, Krashno and Kralevo. Up to 90 % of the needs of the company are met with grapes from own estates.
The boutique wines in the Cuvee prestige line feature limited selections, made from picked vineyards at controlled yield levels of less than 200 kg per dca. By limiting the yield from a certain area, the vine is able to concentrate in the fruit the colour tinge, flavour and aroma, typical for the variety.
